Further, the current administration has issued an executive order focused on decreasing prescription drug prices, which directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to establish a mechanism through which American patients can buy drugs directly from manufacturers who sell at a most-favored-nation price. The order further directs the U.S. Trade Representative and Secretary of Commerce to take action to ensure foreign countries are not engaged in practices that purposefully and unfairly undercut market prices and drive price hikes in the United States. If HHS sets most-favored-nation pricing targets for prescription drugs or increases generic and biosimilar drug entry sooner than expected, then those actions could have a material adverse effect on our ability to set adequate pricing, recoup our investment in R&D, and commercialize our product candidates, if approved. We cannot predict the full impact of this executive order or other measures that may be implemented by the current administration related to drug pricing.
